The Perrin Technique
What is The Perrin Technique?
The Perrin Technique is an osteopathic method which diagnoses and treats patients suffering from Myalgic Encephalitis (ME), Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Fibromyalgia and new studies suggest the Perrin Technique treats some symptoms from long covid.
The Perrin Technique was developed in 1989 by British osteopath and neuroscientist Dr Raymond Perrin DO PhD. Dr Perrin’s theory is that different stress factors whether physical, allergies, emotional or infections lead to an overstrain of the sympathetic nervous system. In ME/CFS sufferers the sympathetic nervous system may have been placed under stress for many years before the onset of symptoms.
The intention of the technique is to drain the toxins from the body by stimulating the lymphatic system. It is vital to have healthy lymphatic drainage to prevent further accumulation of toxins.
What happens in the Initial Consultation?
To treat the symptoms of CFS/ME, Tessa our Perrin osteopath, will target the lymphatics on the chest and back. The aim of this approach is to target and improve the lymphatic system, focusing on increasing fluid motion around the brain and spinal cord. Through a series of massage techniques, toxins are drained from the blood and detoxified and released from the body by the liver.
